The basis for the superiority of the Escher Wyss propeller is the trunnion bearing system that has been developed and is exclusively used by Escher Wyss.
The hub casting supports each blade trunnion in two separate trunnion bearing bushes positioned in the centre respectively outer casing of the propeller hub.
This creates a uniform distribution of all forces into the hub body, results into reasonable contact pressures and prevents deformation of bearing carriers, in particular those of the propeller blade bearings.
Escher Wyss Propeller blades are designed and manufactured to meet highest hydrodynamic and hydroacoustic requirements in corporation with the propeller hub.
The blade and the trunnion are casted in one piece. Attachment to the hub will be effected by a large radius crank ring on the trunnion inside the hub.
Thus a smooth blade flange fillet without pockets for bolt heads can be realised contributing to undisturbed flow along the hub.
