The BIRD NIAGARA Horizontal Plate Filter provides 100% recovery of liquids and solids for pharmaceutical, fine chemical, plating solutions, scavenger filter replacement, carbon filtration, beverages, varnish/lacquers/resins, and other applications. Slurry flows under pressure directly to the individual plates from a central manifold.

The full filtration area of the BIRD NIAGARA Horizontal Plate Filter is available to handle recovery of all liquids and solids. Each filter tank is designed to accommodate shallow or deep plates, depending on the area and cake loading requirements of the application. Plates are removed from the tank as a unit to maximize plate life, tolerate daily usage without damage, and withstand solids overloading.

The BIRD NIAGARA Horizontal Plate Filter is designed to accommodate filter media of almost any type -- with or without a filter-aid precoat. This filter can be constructed from any metal that can be die-formed. The BIRD NIAGARA Horizontal Plate Filter is also available with solid plastic plates and rubber-covered Kynar®-lined tanks, also in a variety of sizes per requirements.

How It Works:

In the BIRD NIAGARA Horizontal Plate Filter, slurry flows under pressure directly to the individual plates from a central manifold. It then passes through the filter medium or filter-aid into the tank, and then through the outlet. The small amount of slurry remaining in the inlet piping, in the central manifold, and above the cake in the filter chamber of each plate,

is forced through the filter with a wash liquor or an inert gas blow. The full filtration area of the Niagara Horizontal Plate Filter is available to handle this extremely small amount of residual slurry for full recovery of all liquids and solids. The Filter is available in standard 316L stainless steel or Hastelloy® C-276 with a variety of surface finishes to suit a particular application.
