Clarification Separation of solids from a liquid of lower density over a particle size range from 1-10,000 microns is accomplished in the enhanced gravitational field of the decanter centrifuge. Liquid clarification is ensured by the correct combination of centrifugal speed and the configuration of the cylindrical bowl section as determined by the throughput and the sedimentation characteristics of the solid material. Increasing the centrifugal force by raising the rotational speed allows the separation of very small particles in the submicron range, even with very small differential density. The decanter centrifuge is particularly insensitive to fluctuations in the concentration of the feed slurry, ensuring good clarification over a wide range of feed conditions. |
