The contract of Felsenwehr in Germany was awarded to VA TECH ESCHER WYSS Ravensburg in April 1999 for the delivery of the complete electromechanical equipment, including switchgears, transformers and all electrical control & protection cubicles for 3 vertical Compact Kaplan Turbines (double regulated).
The 3 new turbines were built into an existing power house, which was originally equipped with 3 horizontal Francis open flume turbines from the twenties. The main requirement for the civil work was to maintain the existing civil work structure as much as possible. This was met best by our direct coupled, vertical Compact Kaplan Turbines. Additionally, the delivery of the complete Water to Wire package, allows the customer also to have a minimum number of interfaces.
