Liechtensteinische Kraftwerke (LKW) awarded VA TECH HYDRO a contract to supply, install, and commission the entire electromechanical equipment for the Letzana power plant refurbishment project.
The existing turbine had been installed at a manufacturing plant, which was subsequently reconstructed to serve other purposes. The newly erected powerhouse in the immediate vicinity of residential homes and service enterprises had to meet the most stringent requirements in terms of sound emissions.
VA TECH HYDRO´s scope of deliveries included a horizontal 2-jet Pelton turbine and a 470 kVA synchronous generator.
The turnkey (W2W) plant is equipped with a TM1703 turbine governor. Connection to the MIC1703 in the reservoir has been effected by modulating the signal upon the power supply line of the intake building.
The plant data are fed into the SAT250 network control system supplied by SAT. The new unit is remotely controlled by an AK1703 power controller. The plant was handed over to the customer for commercial service in mid-September 2003.
