Canadian ATCO Energen Ltd. of Edmonton has signed a contract with VA TECH HYDRO in Canada for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of two 14 MW horizontal Francis turbines and generators, including auxiliary and electrical equipment as well as control system. Commissioning of the plant is scheduled for Mid 2003. This Merchant Plant, located in southern Alberta near Pincher Creek, will sell power into the Alberta Power Pool's hourly spot market.
