VA TECH HYDRO Madrid was awarded by Iberdrola group the contract for the complete supply (design, fabrication, erection and commissioning) of four Semi Kaplan turbines of 2.85 m diameter runner. The same type of Semi Kaplan turbines specially developed by VA TECH HYDRO in Spain has been delivered to the same client before with satisfactory results.

Taking advantage of the similar head and flow conditions of the two stations, as Talavera is located at the same river, few kilometres away from each other, the turbine design has been the same for all units, and the construction itself is being made nearly at the same time, in a record time, as requested by the client. So the order was finally for the supply of four Semi Kaplan vertical turbines, including the turbine itself, control equipment, speed increaser, generator, inlet gates and stop logs.
