The contract of Truchtlaching in Germany was awarded to VA TECH ESCHER WYSS Ravensburg in March 2000. The delivery of the Compact Belt Drive Bulb Turbine including the complete electrical equipment (low voltage generator, all control & protection cubicles and switchgear) represents the 200th Compact Bulb Turbine delivered from VA TECH HYDRO.
The new turbine means an extension for the existing power house, with already two installed Storek Kaplan turbines from the year 1962. The Compact Belt Drive Bulb turbine was installed in the existing gravel flush gate and is working together with the old turbines to provide the maximum possible total annual energy for the power station. The Water to Wire package allows additionally to minimise the interfaces inside the power house.
Since March 2001, the Compact Belt Drive Bulb Turbine of Truchtlaching, has been providing clean electricity to approx. 600 homes.
