Dewatering The separated solids are conveyed by the helical screw conveyor along the bowl cylinder and over the conical section of the decanter to the solids discharge. As they pass over the cone, the solids dewater by a combination of drainage and compression, the degree of which is dependent on the nature of the solids, the adjustment of the centrifuge, and the required degree of dewatering. The transport and discharge of pasty, sludge-like or shear-sensitive solids are facilitated by the appropriate combination of conveyor geometry (pitch and number of starts), cone geometry, and the control of differential speed. |
