Hydro turbines
By using a generator, hydro turbines convert the kinetic power of water into electrical energy.
ANDRITZ HYDRO provides different types of turbines, based on the specific requirements of the hydropower plant.
Pelton turbines
- High head applications up to 1,800 m
- Output up to 420 MW per unit
Francis turbines
- Net head range up to 700 m
- Output up to 800 MW per unit
Kaplan turbines
- Low head applications from 10 m to 80 m
- Output up to 200 MW per unit
Bulb turbines
- Very low head applications from 0.5 m to 30 m
- Output up to 76 MW per unit
Hydromatrix
- Low head applications from 3 m to 19 m
- Factory-assembled “grid” of modules containing small propeller turbine-generator units
- Can be installed at existing dam and gate structures as well as in greenfield locations
Pump turbines
- Amalgamation of Francis turbines and pumps with two operation modes combined in one machine
Tidal current turbines
- Ocean tidal stream device generating power from water speeds
- Operating depth 40 m to 100 m
- Output up to 1 MW
