Successful start-up of new ANDRITZ BOPP film line at Daelim, South Korea

International technology Group ANDRITZ has successfully started up a BOPP film stretching line for Daelim Industrial, a South Korean group operating globally in the construction and chemical industries. The new ANDRITZ Biax line with a width of 8.7 m is designed for an annual capacity of around 38,600 t. The plastic films, with a thickness of 10-60 µm, will be used primarily in the packaging industry.

ANDRITZ receives Vienna Stock Exchange award in two categories

At the Vienna Stock Exchange Awards 2013, international technology Group ANDRITZ was honored once again for its achievements in Investor Relations. ANDRITZ took second place this year in the main category, the ATX Award, after taking first place last year. This prize is awarded to companies in the leading index of the Vienna Stock Exchange for their outstanding communication policy in the Austrian capital market.

ANDRITZ to modernize two boiler plants in Sweden: capacity increase of up to 20%

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received orders from Stora Enso Nymölla AG and Domsjö Fabriker AB, Sweden, to modernize a recovery boiler and a sulfite liquor boiler. Due to technology and equipment supplied by ANDRITZ Energy & Environment (AE&E), the capacity of the two boiler plants can be increased by up to 20%. Both start-ups are scheduled for 2013.

ANDRITZ to rebuild board machine for Kartonsan Karton Sanayi ve Ticaret, Turkey

International technology Group ANDRITZ will upgrade board machine 2 and the related stock preparation systems for Kartonsan Karton Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. in Izmit, Turkey, and thus increase duplex and triplex board production from 100,000 to 160,000 t/a. The start-up is scheduled for the second quarter of 2014.

ANDRITZ Bricmont to supply aluminum melting and holding furnaces to Shandong Nanshan Aluminum, China

ANDRITZ Bricmont, a member of international technology Group ANDRITZ since 2012, has received the order to supply 14 melting and holding furnaces for four direct-chill casting cells to Shandong Nanshan Aluminum Co., Ltd., one of China’s leading aluminum producers. The new melting and casting lines will have an annual capacity of 500.000 tons per year. Start-up for the first cell is scheduled for October 2014.

ANDRITZ to supply two tissue machines with steel yankees to Shandong Sun Paper, China

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from Shandong Sun Paper, China, to supply two tissue machines with steel yankees to the Yanzhou mill, Shandong province, for the production of high quality facial and toilet paper. The first ANDRITZ machine is scheduled to start up in May 2014 and the second at the beginning of 2015. Shandong Sun Paper, a globally leading pulp and paper producer, is thus entering the tissue business.

International technology Group ANDRITZ has developed a new, high-performance film winder in modular design that can be adapted individually to different customer requirements. The ANDRITZ Biax winder – with design, manufacture, pre-assembly, and automation solutions all 100% from Austria – offers new drive technology on the winding core and meets highest requirements in terms of ergonomic design. Innovative safety devices and wide access doors allow safe and easy maintenance. The special contact roll set-up ensures high winding quality, even at high speeds of up to 600 m/min for winding widths from 8.7 m.

International technology Group ANDRITZ presents a new generation of weir plates, providing a significant reduction in power consumption for centrifuges. The patented TurboJet weir plate, available for all ANDRITZ decanters and those of other suppliers, helps customers to reduce their energy consumption by 10-30%.

ANDRITZ successfully delivers world’s largest welded steel yankee for new paper machine in Pöls, Austria

International technology Group ANDRITZ has set an important milestone with the supply of equipment for Europe’s largest kraft paper machine to Zellstoff Pöls AG, Austria: The steel yankee with a diameter of 6.7 meters and a weight of 150 t has been delivered successfully to the Pöls mill. As the largest high-precision steel yankee in the world, it had to be manufactured in two parts for transport purposes. The yankee is made entirely of steel, providing higher performance and enhanced safety compared to a cast iron yankee. It is currently being assembled and welded, and will be lifted into the machine room in June 2013 with a 600 t crane.

ANDRITZ Perfojet opens new spunlace technical center for research, product, and process development

From March 12, 2013, nonwovens producers will have access to the new technical center at ANDRITZ Perfojet in Montbonnot, France. Dedicated to high-performance spunlace production, it is fitted out with the latest innovations available on the market for carding, hydroentanglement, dewatering, impregnation, low add-on, and drying technologies. Opening and blending is possible for any type of fibers: natural, synthetics, or blends can be processed. The neXline spunlace pilot line has been designed to meet the highest demands of the spunlace market and will support nonwovens producers perfectly in their research, product, and process development.

ANDRITZ to support Mondi’s program for energy optimization and environmental protection with supply of state of the art plants and technologies

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received orders to supply a high-energy recovery boiler and further environmental technologies for Mondi pulp and paper mills in Slovakia, Sweden, and the Czech Republic. The orders are part of Mondi’s program to increase energy efficiency and environmental protection.

ANDRITZ to supply laser welding systems for Chinese automotive and steel producers

ANDRITZ Soutec, which has been a member of international technology Group ANDRITZ since 2012, has booked two important orders from China: BAIC Motor, Peking, and PCMI Metal Product, Chongqing, have each ordered a laser welding system for tailored blanks (sheet-metal parts for car bodies). The Soulas type systems are used for linear welding seams and each have an annual capacity of 1.2 million tailored blanks. Start-ups are scheduled for the third quarter of 2013.

International technology Group ANDRITZ announces that the takeover of a majority interest in publicly listed Schuler AG, Germany, has received full and unrestricted approval from the anti-trust authorities responsible. Enforcement will take place during the next few days; ANDRITZ will then own more than 90% of the shares in Schuler AG.

ANDRITZ to supply electromechanical equipment for the Muskrat Falls hydropower plant, Canada

ANDRITZ HYDRO, part of international technology Group ANDRITZ, has received an order from Nalcor Energy to supply four 209 megawatt (MW) Kaplan turbines and four synchronous generators for the new Muskrat Falls hydropower plant in Labrador, Canada. Commissioning is scheduled for 2017. The power generated will be used to replace the energy production of an oil-fired thermal power station.The order has a value of approximately 125 million euros.

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from Fortum Värme to supply a circulating fluidized bed boiler for the new Värtaverket combined heat and power plant in Stockholm, Sweden.
