The contract of Harangi in Karnataka State of India was awarded to VA TECH Escher Wyss Flovel Ltd (EWF) India in April, 1997 on EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) basis. The work included engineering, supply, erection and commissioning of two double regulated ‘S’ type Full Kaplan Turbines, Butterfly Valve, Speed increasing gearbox, Synchronous generators, Hydraulic pressure unit, Governor, Electrical Control & Protection with fully automatic system, Power house crane, Cables, Transformers, Switchyard equipment and all other accessories! Scope also included engineering, supply, erection and commissioning of hydro-mechanical equipment including Gates, Penstock & Trash Racks and design, engineering & execution of Civil works.
The Engineering Company Water & Power Consultancy Company (Wapcos) from New Delhi (India) acted as Project Consultants.
VA TECH Escher Wyss Flovel Ltd., (EWF) executed the complete EPC package (Water to Wire including Civil & Hydro-mechanical work) on a single responsibility basis allowing the customer to have only one partner & have single source responsibility & guarantees. All interfaces within the electromechanical supply and with civil construction were sorted out internally allowing our customer to save time & money.
