Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board (HPSEB) ordered from VA TECH HYDRO Faridabad (India) a fully homologous model of the horizontal 2-jet Pelton Compact turbine under construction in north India. The model tests confirmed the top efficiency level of the turbine, integrating VA TECH HYDRO´s best knowhow in Pelton design.
Taking advantage of the latest developments in Pelton design and refinement of each hydraulic component, all technical guarantees have been fulfilled.
During the model tests at VA TECH HYDRO´s hydraulic laboratory in Vevey, our customer could witness the perfect hydraulic behaviour of the turbines over the whole operating range and verify that the contractual guaranteed runaway speed was met.
These good results will help HPSEB to further manage the project in collaboration with VA TECH HYDRO in Faridabad (India) with a higher level of serenity. The KHAULI project will also represent a new local reference for VA TECH HYDRO in the fast growing Indian market. Commissioning of both turnkey units is scheduled for 2005.
