SUBLIN

Customer: Forces Motrices de l'Avancon
Country: Switzerland
Year of award:          2001

The contract of Sublin in Switzerland was awarded to VA TECH Bouvier Hydro in June 2001 for the engineering, supply, erection and commissioning of one single jet horizontal Pelton turbine, one synchronous generator, one ball valve, one digital speed governor Mipreg DGC 600 c and the hydraulic pressure unit.

Entreprises Electriques Fribourgeoises, to whom our group supplied two years ago the vertical 5 jets Pelton turbine of St-Anne ( Switzerland ), acts as the engineering company in this project.

The main specificities of this project are that the turbine, which will be installed in the same powerhouse as the existing Francis units, is used as a reducing pressure device on the drinking water supply of the city of Bex and therefore the active parts of the turbine must be made out of special stainless steels accepted by the Food Administration. Moreover, the unit must operate in isolated network to provide drinking water even in case of a longer power cut.

The planning of the project foresees the manufacturing of the components till march 2002, the site erection in April and May 2002 in order to commission the unit for end of May, exactly one year after the contract award.

By mid of September, the layout drawings and the runner drawings have been submitted, all the other drawings are in the terminal phase. The runner casting is ordered, as well as the generator, the digital speed governor and the valve.
