The Compact Axial Turbine is based on a modular design concept with the same key components used for various alternatives. This makes the Compact Axial Turbine versatile.
Particular attention has been paid to avoiding water pollution. A water-lubricated shaft bearing meets the requirements both from the technical and environmental points of view.
The Compact Axial Turbine utilizes water power potential at the highest possible efficiencies. Depending on flow rates, it is available both in double and single regulated (semi-Kaplan) versions. All guarantees are based on model test results or numerical flow analyses in the ANDRITZ HYDRO laboratories.
The turbine and generator are assembled to form an integral unit together with the gearing required. CAT units can thus be installed in the finished powerhouse as complete aggregates – already shop-tested - prior to final embedding. This brings enormous savings in erection time and costs.
