Pulp & Paper is one of the primary users of renewable raw materials such as fresh water, energy, and forest fibers. As such, the industry must sustainably manage these raw materials. This is not an easy undertaking.
The principles of sustainable development -- meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to also meet their needs – have become an integral part of our corporate policy.
We operate our business in a socially responsible manner. We give preference to suppliers who do the same. Our core products and processes comply with the highest environmental standards. We intend to live up to our responsibilities as a global citizen and a local neighbor in the communities where we have a presence.
Today, the key concerns of our customers are two-fold: lowering costs (both investment costs and operating costs) per unit of production; and ensuring that the production is sustainable. Our customers continually ask the question, “How can we be more productive while wasting less of our precious resources?” Our patents and developments in yield improvement, low-impact bleaching, water conservation, waste recycling, information technology, and energy efficiency all contribute markedly to sustainability.
Our actions regarding sustainability were recognized by the inclusion of Andritz in the VOENIX sustainability index (companies listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange which are leaders in social and ecological sustainability).
