Designing a chipper, which has a high capacity and produces perfect chips, is a major challenge. There are tremendous variations in the appearance and the quality of logs. The list of factors affecting the design of a chipper grows longer and longer, and requires a large dose of innovation.
The basic pre-requisite for producing high, uniform chip quality is that each log will be correctly oriented in relation to the chipper disc. Once the first knife enters the log, the log must not change direction during the chipping sequence.
By taking our HQ chipper with its unique chipping geometry and tilting it downward we created the horizontally fed HHQ-Chipper. This chipper produces chip quality that is superior to anything that we have previously seen.
The new HHQ chipper is a great compliment to our HQ-Chipper, Twin Chipper and Re-chipper.
Regardless of whether your chipping process requires horizontal or gravity fed chippers, you can now find the unit which best suits your application from our line of modern products.
The horizontally fed HHQ ChipperTM is designed to produce the highest quality chips at high capacity levels.
The HHQ - ChipperTM features.
- Very high chip quality due to unique chipping geometry
- High capacity by simultaneous chipping of several logs
- Minimum amount of oversized chips
- Minimum amount of fines and pins
- Low installation height
- Reliable operation and long life
The HHQ - ChipperTM with horizontal infeed is best suited for logs longer than 3 meters and is using the same unique chipping geometry as HQ - ChipperTM. The improved geometry and optimized cutting speed produces thinner and more rectangular shaped chips well suited to the modern cooking or refining process.
Logs are fed to the chipper directly through the large horizontal spout with a chain conveyor. Horizontal infeed with controlled speed will keep the chipping process more stable and will hold the logs in the same position relative to the chipper disc during the whole chipping process. This will decrease the amount of oversized chips and improve the chip size distribution. Horizontal infeed also minimizes the impacts and thus log breakage prior to the chipper. Large spout provides easy infeed of crooked wood as well.
Low maintenance costs, easily changeable wear parts, ergonomic and compact design are all contributing the total economy of the HHQ - ChipperTM.
The HQ-ChipperTM is designed to produce the highest quality chips at high capacity from today's varying wood supply.
The HQ-ChipperTM features.
- Very high chip quality due to unique chipping geometry
- Minimum amount of fines and pin chips
- High capacity ensured by simultaneous chipping of several logs
- Reliable operation and long life
The HQ-ChipperTM design combines tried and tested chipping technology with the latest research suited to today's small diameter pulpwood and requirements for high capacity and high chip quality. The unique chipping geometry of the HQ-ChipperTM with an inclined shaft produces high quality chips from logs up the 6m long.
The large spout is designed for simultaneous chipping of several small diameter longs while maintaining stable behavior of logs during chipping. The improved geometry yields thinner, rectangular shaped chips, well suited to modern cooking or refining processes.
The chips are side-discharged to a screw hopper placed above the floor level. The gently side-discharge and an optimum cutting speed minimize chip damages and reduce the amount of fines and pin chips. Tests show that the chips are of such high quality that they can be compared with screened chips.
Low maintenance costs, simple servicing, easy to change wear parts, ergonomic construction and compact design only add to the advantage of the HQ ChipperTM.
The Twin ChipperTM is the ideal solution for longwood chipping. Horizontal wood infeed with integrated breakage processing via a specially designed secondary drop-feed spout results in an improved chip quality and increased capacity.
The Twin Chippers features include:
- Horizontal feed of tree length wood
- The highest possible chip quality and yield from breakage
- Low pins and fines generation
- Reduced chip damage
Longwood processing demands horizontal wood infeed to the chipper. Small pieces of wood sometimes broken from the stem during processing can interrupt the throughput of, and the chip quality from the longer stems.
In addition to the large, under shaft pout, the Twin ChipperTM is quipped with a secondary drop-feed spout that is designed to extract the highest possible chip quality and yield from the broken material. Breakage separation provides an undisturbed flow of logs to the main spout, which increases the capacity of the chipper and improves the chip quality.
Longwood is fed to the Twin ChipperTM by a conveyor, through the horizontal spout at an angle to the chipper disc to ensure an optimum chipping geometry. The breakage is separated from the main feed line through a breakage dropout, collected in a separate conveyor and fed to the chipper disc via the breakage spout located above the main spout.
The large disc diameter provides for a large spout opening for crooked wood, while the reduced cutting speed minimized the amount of fines and pins. The side discharge reduces typical chip damages caused by blowing vanes.
The Rechipper features a well thought out design, which produces high quality chips from the oversize chip fraction and meets requirement for
- High chip quality compared with chips from drum type rechippers and shredders
- High capacity
- Excellent operational reliability
- Easily operational reliability
- Easily adjustable chip length
The Rechipper is designed to upgrade the oversize chip fraction mainly consisting of knots and splinters into accepted chips with a minimum of fines for the pulping process. The ability of the Rechipper to convert this difficult to handle chip fraction into accepted chips is well documented-especially when compared with drum rechippers or shredders.
The oversize chip faction is gravity fed to the rechipper via the infeed spout where the silvers enter into contact with rotating disc which is equipped with radially located knives. The knives cut the oversize chips to the required length. The clearance between the knives and the bed knife is easily adjustable ad contributes to the high chip quality.
The excellent performance of the Rechipper is an attribute to the design of the V-shaped chute and its chipping geometry. This combination provides effective guidance and stabilizing of the oversize chips prior to and during chipping.
