Laboratory Systems

A wide variety of systems

Andritz designs and customizes laboratory refining equipment based upon the specific needs of a research institute or mill. A wide variety of feeding arrangements, impregnation approaches, cooking conditions, refining parameters. and pressure ratings can be accommodated.

With the smaller capacities of laboratory systems, accurate feeding and metering is essential for reproducible test results. The modular design of the Andritz equipment enables its use as a standalone device or as part of a continuous system at any time.

Andritz laboratory systems are delivered complete with all motors, instrumentation, electronic controls, field instrumentation, and steel structures.

Continuous pressurized lab refining system

The continuous system is equipped with a Lab Refiner Type 12-1CP which is able to handle appx. 20-100 kg/h (depending on the material/ specific energy input). The main components of this system are:

  • Chip washing (optional)
  • Main charge bin followed by a metering screw
  • Feeding system: ball valve, rotary valve, or Modular Screw Device
  • Impregnator, equipped with sight glasses
  • Inclined digester with internal screw conveyor
  • Retention/ reaction vessel
  • Refiner (12-1CP or 22-1CP)
  • Cyclone
