Description

ANDRITZ HYDRO USA is looking for an engineer with experience in heavy industrial equipment to design refurbishment components for hydro-turbines and related equipment. We seek experience with large mechanical component design, rotating equipment, castings, capital-equipment, substantial bearings/bushings, oversized custom fabrication. The Mechanical Engineer/Designer will provide technical support internally to project management and proposal engineering, as well as externally to the field offices, subcontractors and clients. This position is based at our US headquarters in Charlotte, NC and some travel to sites/vendors is expected.

Designs refurbishment components using calculations to verify designs. Components may include turbine runners, discharge rings, shaft, bearings, wicket gates, wicket gate mechanism/bushings, headcover/bottomring, stayvanes, distributor/stay rings, draft tube liners and turbine inlets.
Resolve technical issues related to projects.
Performs components checks as required.
Assists the Sales Department in the bid for technical issues.
Provides assistance to project management in technical tasks related to the refurbishment of hydro-turbines and related equipment.
Assist Purchasing in reviewing quotes and purchase orders for completeness.

Qualification

Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering. 5+ years of experience in mechanical design of heavy industrial components. Must have proven experience in one or more of the following areas: capital equipment, welding, custom fabrication, castings, large bearings/bushings and/or piping. P.E. license preferred. AutoCAD proficiency required. (This is a hands-on design role.) Experience designing large rotation equipment is highly pursued.
