ANDRITZ to supply high-efficiency, biomass-fired bubbling fluidized bed boiler to Pori Energia, Finland

2018/01/25

International technology group ANDRITZ has received an order from Pori Energia, Finland, to deliver an EcoFluid bubbling fluidized bed boiler (“BFB”) with flue gas cleaning system for an existing biomass power plant at Pori Energia’s Aittaluoto power plant, located on the west coast of Finland.

Start-up is scheduled for the second quarter of 2020.

ANDRITZ’s scope of supply comprises engineering, erection work, and start-up of the fluidized bed boiler, including delivery of a flue gas cleaning system and other auxiliary equipment.

The equipment and technologies supplied by ANDRITZ are essential parts of a high-efficiency biomass power plant for supply of green energy to the national grid. The new power plant will be fired with biomass, such as forest fuels and sawmill residues, and will generate power and district heating for more than 40,000 customers in the city of Pori.

“After start-up of the new plant, the carbon dioxide emissions from the Aittaluoto power plant will be reduced by 80 %”, says Matti Rintanen Managing Director of Pori Energia.

“We are very proud to support Pori Energia in reaching its sustainability goals with our globally proven and advanced boiler technologies”, says Kari Tuominen, President and CEO of ANDRITZ Oy.

ANDRITZ is one of the leading global suppliers of boiler technologies and systems for generating steam and electricity from renewable and fossil fuels, with a large number of very successful references worldwide.
