ANDRITZ Energy & Environment receives major order to supply equipment for two coal-fired power stations in Chile
International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from the Chilean electricity generation company AES Gener S.A. and its subsidiary Norgener S.A. to supply two turnkey flue gas desulphurization plants, including two fabric filters, for Tocopilla coal-fired power plant (output 2 x 140 MW), as well as a flue gas desulphurization plant and a fabric filter for Unit 1 (120 MW), and a bag filter plant (218 MW) for the Ventanas coal-fired power station.
The order value is close to 100 MEUR. Start-up is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2013.
Both plants will use the ANDRITZ Energy & Environment (AE&E) TurboSorp dry desulphurization technology, which features operating reliability, durability, and easy process control. The scope of supply includes design, engineering, manufacture, installation, and start-up of the plants on EPC basis.
The many years of experience of the ANDRITZ GROUP in the successful execution of large projects in Chile were among the decisive factors in the order award to AE&E. This important reference order for flue gas desulphurization plants marks ANDRITZ Energy & Environment’s entry into the growth market Chile: As a result of new environmental protection regulations, new emission limits will apply here for coal-fired power plants as from the end of 2013, creating the need to retrofit flue gas desulphurization plants.
