ANDRITZ SEPARATION launches new decanter generation

ANDRITZ SEPARATION, part of international technology group ANDRITZ, has developed a new generation of decanter centrifuges that are suitable for industrial, chemical, food, and environmental applications. The new generation will complement the existing A-series for industrial, F-series for food, and D-series for environmental applications.

The key advantage of the new ANDRITZ decanter generation is its concept of scalability that can be modified according to customers’ requirements. This allows maximum flexibility in adjusting standardized machines to meet individual customer challenges without the risks and costs associated with customized prototype solutions.

The large range of parameters on offer enables customers to choose capacities from small to large, temperatures from -80°C to +180°C, pH-values from 1 to 10, and pressures of up to 6 bar. The decanter centrifuges can be used for slurries or sludge in the feed – from thin solids concentrations to streams with a heavy solids load – and can process many different kinds of slurries – from food to abrasive minerals, from sticky to dusty, and from light- to heavy-density material. The new decanters are also suitable for a wide range of atmospheres, ranging from harmless to hazardous. ANDRITZ seeks to provide individual solutions depending on customer requirements, e.g. offering the option of an impenetrable centrifuge case, tested at a firing range to ensure safe operation in a heavily corrosive environment.

The first A12 decanter with features from the new decanter series has been sold to a customer in the chemicals industry and is the largest decanter worldwide to be used for the production of polymers. In the industrial wastewater cleaning sector, a medium-sized version of the new A-series decanter has been sold for thickening of salt water sludge. The F-series has been developed specifically for the food sector, and the new F7300 decanter, based on the same platform as the medium-sized A-series, is capable of meeting the most demanding requirements in the food industry, such as high torque rating while assuring cleaning in place (CIP) to highest hygienic standards for highest availability.

The ideal complement to any decanter centrifuge is the ANDRITZ CentriTune centrifuge control system. Centuries of centrifuge and process experience are packed into an easy-to-operate machine interface that is simple to integrate into existing or new plants; this ensures a short start-up time thanks to full factory pre-testing. It is also simple to adapt for future plant expansion due to the modular PLC system with long-term availability of spare parts. The result is higher machine availability and better performance by using the verified control package for every centrifuge-related functionality.

CentriTune also means less downtime due to preventive maintenance alarms, with peace of mind thanks to machine automation. The system can be installed on existing decanters, regardless of the original manufacturer.
