Andritz VA TECH HYDRO Ltd. in Canada (formerly GE Hydro) receives important rehabilitation order

ANDRITZ VA TECH HYDRO Ltd., Canada (formerly GE Hydro) which has been a member of international technology Group ANDRITZ since July 2008, received an order from the private Canadian utility Brookfield Renewable Power Inc. for supplies and rehabilitation work for the Aubrey Falls hydropower plant in Ontario, Canada. The contract value amounts to approximately CDN$ 9.2 million (EUR 6 million).

The contract for ANDRITZ VA TECH HYDRO Ltd. comprises the supply and installation of new stator windings as well as refurbishment of field windings and poles for two 87 MVA generators in the Aubrey Falls hydropower plant. The first unit is planned to be back in operation by May 2009. The decisive factors for awarding the contract to ANDRITZ VA TECH HYDRO were the special winding bar design of the shop in Peterborough and the advanced manufacturing technology in the Lachine plant as well as the short delivery time.
