Andritz supplies two biomass drying systems to Pfeifer Heggenstaller GroupInternational technology Group ANDRITZ received an order for supply of two belt drying systems for sawdust from the Pfeifer Heggenstaller Group, Germany, one of the most important producers of wood products in Europe.
On account of the strongly rising demand for plants to dry wood chips and sawdust for pellet production, ANDRITZ’s Environment & Process business area has further developed its belt drying system - tried and tested in sewage sludge treatment - for biomass applications. Each of the two BDS-110-S-8.0 belt drying systems (belt width 8 m) to be supplied to the Pfeifer Heggenstaller Group by 2009 can evaporate 11 t/h of water depending on the heat provided by the customer and dry approximately 25 t/h of sawdust from 50% inlet dryness to 92% final dryness.
The two belt dryers work with through air - the drying air is extracted with several fans and released to the ambiance. The drying air is indirectly heated using several air/water heat exchangers. In addition, ANDRITZ offers a belt dryer variant with circulating air, which is characterized by especially high energy efficiency.
ANDRITZ focuses on renewable energy
The ANDRITZ Group offers a wide range of global top products and processes for energy generation from renewable sources such as hydropower and biomass. In the area of hydropower, ANDRITZ offers state-of-the-art equipment (water turbines) and services for hydropower stations. Besides biomass drying plants, ANDRITZ’s Environment & Process business area supplies plants for converting liquid sewage sludge into granulate that can be used as substitute for fossil fuels, and centrifuges for bioethanol systems. Recovery and biomass boilers supplied by ANDRITZ for pulp mills produce “green” energy from biomass; wood and biomass gasification systems are also in use worldwide with great success. Last but not least, ANDRITZ is the world market leader for wood and biomass pelleting systems.
