The new hydropower plant right in the heart of Graz, Styria’s capital, will provide 20,000 households or 45,000 people with green electricity, will create jobs, and will make the Mur an experience for young and old alike. By producing sustainable emission-free energy, Graz-Puntigam is contributing significantly to the environmental goals of the government with a reduction of about 60,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

ANDRITZ supplied two Bulb turbines with 8.85 MW each including speed controllers, generators, excitation and the entire control system for this important hydropower plant. The contract was signed in March 2017 and in August 2019, the last of the units was handed over for commercial operation.

ANDRITZ is proud to be part of this important, sustainable clean energy project right here on our doorstep in the heartlands of Austria.
