Continuous furnaces

ANDRITZ METALS is a leading supplier of engineering, know-how, and process technology to the steel and copper industry. We offer continuously operating furnaces for reheating and heat treatment processes in the steel industry.

The requirements of the thermal process, such as temperature and productivity, are decisive for the furnace design. ANDRITZ METALS distinguishes between continuously and batch-wise operating furnaces. In continuously operating furnaces, the charging material is transported through the furnace at a constant speed or step by step and is heated at the same time.

These types of furnace are used for reheating of semi-finished products (slabs, blocks, billets, etc.) for subsequent hot forming or heat treatment. Due to the fast heating and cooling rates, it is possible to produce steel grades meeting stringent demands in terms of the temperature-time-curve. Overall, the performance capacities of continuous furnace systems are higher than those of industrial furnaces with batch-type operation.

Double walking beam furnaces

In double walking beam furnaces, the material is heated to temperatures of up to 1,150° C. Typical furnace capacities range from 5 to 80 t/h. Double walking beam furnaces are being heated increasingly by recuperation burners in addition to hot-air burners.

Pusher-type furnaces

In pusher-type furnaces, the material is heated up to temperatures between 1,100° C and 1,300° C. Typical furnace capacities range from 50 to 250 t/h. In addition to hot-air burners, regenerative burners are also used to heat pusher-type furnaces.

Roller hearth furnaces

In roller hearth furnaces, the material is heated to temperatures of up to 1,100° C. Typical furnace capacities range from 5 to 80 t/h. Recuperation and regenerative burners are also used in addition to hot-air burners for heating roller hearth furnaces.

Rotary hearth furnaces

In roller hearth furnaces, the material is heated to temperatures of up to 1,100° C. Typical furnace capacities range from 5 to 80 t/h. Recuperation and regenerative burners are also used in addition to hot-air burners for heating roller hearth furnaces.

Rotary table furnaces

In rotary hearth furnaces, the material is heated up to temperatures between 500° C and 1,350° C. Typical furnace capacities range from 20 to 120 t/h. Regenerative burners are used in addition to hot-air burners for heating the rotary hearth furnaces.

Walking hearth/walking beam furnaces

In walking hearth/walking beam furnaces, the material is heated to temperatures of up to 1,300° C. Typical furnace capacities range from 30 to 350 t/h. Walking hearth/walking beam furnaces are heated by regenerative burners in addition to hot-air burners.
