In retrofitting and rebuilding your existing installation you want to involve an expert. Our project management and engineering teams utilize their qualifications, skills and experiences. Combining our strength in engineering and rebuilding or upgrading your furnace system with our state of the art project management tools, critical path analyzes ensures that projects are completed on time, on budget, and to your specification.

Rolling

Enormous demands by the automotive industry require highest quality products with closest tolerances for our customers. This also means continuously rising technological demands on the rolling mill equipment in the line. However, these demands can only be met if the entire process chain is tuned to provide optimum results. This is why, as an innovative company, we have set ourselves the goal of developing a new cold rolling mill for aluminum, thus ideally covering and aligning the entire process chain for the production of flat aluminum products: a cold rolling mill in a 4-high or 6-high design, with perfectly aligned equipment interacting with the mechanical units, the technological controls, and the drive system.

Processing

Lightweight aluminum trends for the automotive, aerospace, and defense industries.

Automobile manufacturers are moving to make cars lighter, to reduce weight and CO2 emissions, and to extend the range of electric vehicles. Different aluminum alloys provide excellent properties for deep-drawing and high strength for crash performance. First-class corrosion resistance and its efficient recyclability are additional benefits of using aluminum for car bodies and panels. The excellent properties of the aluminum are also valued by the aerospace and defense industries. In addition, aluminum has established itself as the best material for food and beverage cans, solar technology, and in the construction industry. ANDRITZ offers and continues to develop technology for high-quality aluminum sheet, with first-class mechanical properties and surface pre-treatment according to automotive customer specifications.

Coating

ANDRITZ coating lines operate in a wide product range: The processed substrates can be uncoated carbon steel, hot-dip or electrolytic galvanized steel, or nonferrous material, especially aluminum. As a first step, the material is pre-cleaned to ensure a uniform and clean substrate surface. Subsequently, the surface is activated by means of chromate-free conversion to obtain good corrosion protection and ensure that the subsequent prime coating adheres well. This can be applied either to the top and/or bottom surface. Before entering the next process step, the strip must be dried evenly. For multi-layer coating, a finish coat can be applied on top of the prime coating layer (also to the top and/or bottom surface) to meet the highest quality demands on the final product. Before final cooling, a device can be installed to apply a protective foil to the hot surface, depending on customers’ requirements. Finally, the strip can be inspected in the inspection area and classified according to the customers’ specifications and the demands of the market.

Finishing

With over 300 lines worldwide for slitting, side trimming, cutting to length, and shearing, ANDRITZ is one of the market leaders in this segment. ANDRITZ has the optimum solution for all kinds of materials (high-precision cold-rolled strip, surface-sensitive stainless steel, aluminum, copper strip, or hot-rolled strip). A maximum degree of flexibility is ensured with our large range of patented solutions. Blanking lines are used by car manufacturers and/or their specialized sub-suppliers to cut car body sheets. Depending on the intended application, rectangular, trapezoidal, curved, or other special shapes can be produced with these lines. Major car manufacturers all around the world use ANDRITZ lines.

Burners

ANDRITZ is a leading supplier of industrial burners, complete heating systems, and combustion equipment with global experience in many thermal process industries. ANDRITZ delivers industrial burners and heating systems for a wide range of thermal applications in industry, particularly in the steel and aluminum industries, the forging industry, and for many other low- and high-temperature processes.

Shape control

ANDRITZ is an experienced rolling mill manufacturer and has built flatness measurement and flatness control systems under licence from the VDEh-Betriebsforschungsinstitut (BFI) for more than 40 years, registered under the shape:tronic system trademark. The general-purpose shape control systems

are used in different kinds of rolling mills in the steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and nonferrous metal industries. The latest design of the ANDRITZ Sundwig BFI shapemeter roll has a completely uniform, homogeneous surface, free of any gaps, thus avoiding damage to the strip surface and offering unlimited possibilities in roll coating. The service life of the roll surface is virtually indefinite thanks to the wear-resistant coatings used, for example tungsten carbide.
