Customer results highlight substantial gains in die service life with ANDRITZ Diamond Die
What happens when die wear is no longer the limiting factor?
Customer data from a range of feed, biomass and industrial applications is providing a clear indication. Across multiple installations, users of Diamond Die* from ANDRITZ have reported service lifetimes of up to twice those achieved with conventional dies.
Designed for demanding applications involving wear, corrosion and abrasive materials, Diamond Die is used in the processing of products including waste streams, biomass and sugar beet pulp. Recent customer results show a consistent trend across different sectors and pellet mill types.
One dairy feed producer operating a 26LM2 pellet mill achieved between 13,000 and 14,000 tons of throughput using Diamond Die, compared to approximately 7,000 tons previously achieved with a standard XT86 feed die.
The same pattern can be seen in poultry feed production. A customer operating a 26XWV400 pellet mill increased throughput per die from 25,000 tons to 50,000 tons, while another customer using a 501ACE pellet mill increased die lifetime throughput from 2,500 tons to 4,800 tons.
In another installation, a customer replaced three standard XT84 dies with Diamond Dies across three presses. Service life increased from 5,500 to 11,552 tons on one press, from 5,000 to 10,300 tons on a second, and from 4,000 to 8,292 tons on the third.
The trend extends beyond feed production. A turkey feed producer increased die service life from 18,000 tons to 40,550 tons, while a sugar beet processor doubled run-time per die while maintaining product quality and reported operational cost savings of nearly 30%.
While the applications vary, the outcome is remarkably consistent: customers are recording significantly longer service life from their dies, helping them get more from each production run before replacement is required.
