ANDRITZ to supply Direct Fired Furnace equipment for HYUNDAI STEEL, Korea

2020/02/13

International technology group ANDRITZ has received an order from HYUNDAI STEEL, Korea, to supply key process equipment for the #1 furnace in the existing continuous galvanizing line (CGL) at the Dangjin plant.

The scope of supply includes engineering, delivery of a new ANDRITZ SELAS Direct Fired Furnace (DFF), as well as supervision of erection work and commissioning. The project will be executed during the fourth quarter of 2020.

By replacing the existing direct-fired furnace with the ANDRITZ SELAS DFF, current issues such as formation of soot and cracks in the burner nozzle will be eliminated. This modernization is also a major step enabling HYUNDAI STEEL to produce value-added products for the automotive market.

HYUNDAI STEEL is one of the largest domestic steel producers and metals recyclers in Korea, based on estimated annual steel making and metals recycling capabilities, with facilities located throughout Korea. The company produces steel products, including hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and coated sheet steel, structural steel beams and shapes, rails, engineered special bar-quality steel, cold-finished steel, merchant bar products, specialty steel sections, and steel joists and deck.
