COMPACT PRESS™ wash press: Maximized efficiency, compact design
The exceptional performance of the ANDRITZ COMPACT PRESS makes it an excellent choice for individual washing plants as well as entire fiberlines. Over its history, nearly 170 COMPACT PRESS wash presses have been sold to customers around the world, and since 2019, it has been an integral part of the ANDRITZ washing portfolio.
The COMPACT PRESS has a small footprint and a compact design, making it the perfect retrofit washer for all sizes and capacities of pulp mills, even those with very limited space in the fiberline. It is also suitable for full fiberlines, where it provides superior wash press performance to meet the most demanding customer requirements. The washers are available in nine different sizes, starting from a capacity of 400 t/d up to 6,000 t/d, and are designed to suit all pulping processes, including kraft, semi-chemical, and mechanical pulp. The latest development at ANDRITZ has seen the introduction of a dewatering press based on the same technology for the dewatering of mechanical pulp.

The COMPACT PRESS has been developed to maximize dilution-extraction, displacement and final pressing during the wash cycle. Feeding the COMPACT PRESS at higher consistencies and making greater use of the drum surface provides superior washing capability within a small footprint, making it the best wash press on the market.
Unique concept
The COMPACT PRESS is built around the UniWash™ process concept. This concept has three main features: UniFeed™ pulp distribution system; high pulp consistency in the wash zone; and low wash liquor velocity. The COMPACT PRESS is built to last, so it requires little maintenance - and when it does need to be serviced, it has several easy-maintenance features that make the task easy.
COMPACT PRESS D™ and COMPACT PRESS HD™
The COMPACT PRESS D™ dewatering press and the COMPACT PRESS HD™ high-consistency dewatering press are the two latest additions to the COMPACT PRESS™ family. Built on the same technological foundation as the COMPACT PRESS™ wash press, they are specifically designed for dewatering. Both dewatering presses maintain the same compact footprint as the COMPACT PRESS™ wash press, making them easy to integrate into mill layouts with limited space.
COMPACT PRESS D™ dewatering press
Originally developed for intermediate dewatering of TMP and CTMP pulps, the COMPACT PRESS D™ is capable of dewatering any type of pulp to a dryness level of up to 30%.
COMPACT PRESS HD™ high-consistency dewatering press
The COMPACT PRESS HD™ can achieve dryness levels exceeding 50%, making it an ideal choice for dewatering prior to the flash dryer. It is also an excellent choice for mills looking to capitalize on fiberline overcapacity – relative to pulp dryer or paper machine capacity – by dewatering and producing wet market pulp for sale. It offers a flexible configuration with one or two pulp discharge points: when used for dewatering prior to flash drying, two discharge points enhance efficiency during flash dryer startup; when producing wet market pulp, typically a single discharge point is used.
