ANDRITZ to supply a new wood handling plant to RK-Grand, Karelia region, Russia
International technology group ANDRITZ has received an order from RK-Grand OOO, Russia, to deliver a new wood handling plant for its Pitkyaranta pulp mill in the Republic of Karelia, Russia.
Start-up is planned for the fourth quarter of 2023.
The delivery includes a new debarking and chipping line with a hydrostatically supported debarking drum and horizontally fed HHQ-Chipper with a TK-IV TurnKnife System to ensure high chip quality and long intervals between knife changes. This new debarking line is designed to achieve a very high debarking degree and is equipped with an efficient de-icing system, which helps to meet the very high pulp quality standards at the Pitkyaranta mill. The plant will process 870,000 m3 sob of pine and spruce logs annually.
In addition to this equipment, the scope of supply includes chip handling for both round wood chips and purchased chips, with a new wood chip storage silo and a wood chip sorting station. The energy value of the bark will be increased with the new-generation HQ-Press bark press.
