Suparma reduces environmental impact with complete ANDRITZ reject treatment system

2026/05/05

P.T. Suparma Tbk has selected international technology group ANDRITZ to supply a complete coarse reject treatment system for its recycled-fiber-based paper mill in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia.

This order underlines Suparma’s commitment to sustainable, efficient production and reinforces ANDRITZ’s position as a trusted supplier of recycling and reject treatment solutions in Southeast Asia. Start-up is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026.

The new system will process coarse rejects from the mill’s drum pulping line, handling heterogeneous streams that include mixed plastics and other contaminants.

The key equipment for this process includes the reject compactor ReCo, which enables high efficiency mechanical dewatering to significantly reduce downstream handling volumes. In addition, the robust ADuro P shredder provides reliable, contaminant‑tolerant size reduction to ensure a uniform feed for subsequent metal separation and final reject processing.

Together, these technologies help stabilize operations and reduce the environmental impact related to reject management. The integrated dry‑process configuration reduces handling complexity and supports consistent output quality for further processing. ANDRITZ’s proven reject technology ensures high availability, consistent fraction purity, and low energy consumption. Overall, the solution reflects ANDRITZ’s strategic focus on enabling resource-efficient and circular industrial processes.

Joseph Sulaiman, Director at Suparma, said: “Improving reject handling to further enhance the mill’s environmental performance and support stable mill operation is an important step for us. We value ANDRITZ’s technical expertise and the proven reliability of its recycling solutions. We look forward to the improvements this project will bring to our daily operations and to the mill’s long-term development.”

This order marks another reference for ANDRITZ in Indonesia for a complete coarse reject treatment system and reflects the company’s continued growth and recognized expertise in advanced recycling technologies within the Southeast Asian pulp and paper industry.

The value of the order will not be disclosed. It is included in ANDRITZ’s order intake for the first quarter of 2026.

P.T. Suparma Tbk is a well-established Indonesian paper producer serving the tissue, packaging, and specialty paper markets, with a strong commitment to operational efficiency and environmentally responsible production.
