Different kinds of biomass in piles

Biomass receiving and conveying systems

ANDRITZ offers excellent technology and equipment for receiving and conveying different biomass materials in a renewable energy production plant.

Compact solutions for receiving and handling various biomass materials

Cost-effective production of energy biomass is very much dependent on efficient handling of available biomass sources, as well as the efficiency of each process. An important, but often overlooked, area is the efficient receiving of different types and different capacities of biomass as it enters the plant and then conveying this material to the production equipment.  In many cases, the space available for biomass handling is limited.

Complete systems or specific equipment – ANDRITZ has the solution

ANDRITZ offers complete solutions for receiving, storing, and conveying biomass for energy production.  The scope of supply can vary from complete plants to individual equipment delivery. ANDRITZ is very experienced in project management, ensuring deliveries that are on-time and on-budget, and produce excellent economic results for energy producers.

Biomass receiving systems

ANDRITZ designs receiving systems for different types of biomass and in different configurations. Receiving equipment is available for back-tipping, self-unloading, and side-tipping trucks or rail cars. Loading with a front loader is also possible.
Receiving equipment can be installed in a pit or at ground level. The size and volume of the receiving pocket can be suited to vehicle volumes or turn-around times. The receiving pit can be used as small buffer storage or as an emergency or mixing pocket.

Biomass conveyor

Biomass conveying equipment

ANDRITZ conveyors provide a safe, reliable, and durable method for transporting biomass materials in a continuous and uniform flow within a plant.

Belt conveyors

Belt conveyors are an economical and reliable choice for transferring biomass over long distances at high capacities with lower noise levels. Designs range from simple, open configurations to totally closed and washable conveyor galleries. The conveyors are engineered to have the maximum safe distance between support legs to minimize the cost of civil construction as well as reducing the number of obstructions on the ground.

Chain conveyors

Chain conveyors are a reliable choice for transporting unscreened or dusty biomass, or when the available space is limited.

Screw conveyors

Screw conveyors are a very economical alternative for transporting biomass over short distances. ANDRITZ offers screw conveyors from 400-2,000 mm in diameter.
