ANDRITZ to supply new walking hearth furnace to Deutsche Edelstahlwerke, Germany

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from Deutsche Edelstahlwerke Specialty Steel GmbH & Co. KG, Germany, to supply a complete walking hearth furnace plant for its facility in Witten, Germany.

Production is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2020.

The new plant comprises two MAERZ® walking hearth furnaces with automatic loading and unloading device, a MAERZ® car bottom furnace for pre-heating sensitive material grades, and an entry and exit roller conveyor. The plant – operated in three shifts – has an hourly capacity of 35 tons and is designed for heating billets and ingots to a maximum rolling temperature of 1,320°C.

In addition to the mechanical part of the plant, the scope of supply also comprises the entire electrical, automation and visualization equipment.

Deutsche Edelstahlwerke Specialty Steel GmbH & Co. KG is a company that produces and processes long stainless steel products. It has facilities in Witten (headquarters), Siegen, Krefeld, Hagen and Hattingen, all in Germany, where around 4,000 employees produce and process almost one million tons of stainless steel a year.
