ANDRITZ ExMax S1021 Single Screw Extruder

ANDRITZ launches ExMax S1021 for more efficient pet food and aqua feed production

2025/09/16

International technology group ANDRITZ has launched its latest extrusion innovation – the ExMax S1021 – at the VICTAM LATAM event in São Paulo, Brazil.

The new extruder responds to the growing demand for safer, more sustainable pet food and aqua feed by helping producers achieve consistently high-quality nutrition, improved food safety, and greater efficiency, while reducing operating costs and unplanned downtime.

Developed in collaboration with industry producers, the ExMax S1021 combines a hygienic design with advanced automation to make production cleaner, more reliable and easier to control, while minimizing waste.

“The ExMax S1021 is not just about capacity – it’s about giving producers greater control, cleaner operations, and consistently higher product quality,” said Danny Cummins, Head of Product Management at ANDRITZ Feed & Biofuel. “Producers worldwide are under pressure to deliver safer, more sustainable feed at lower cost. This technology is designed to meet these demands and help them remain competitive in fast-growing markets like those in Latin America.”

Built for today’s challenges

The ExMax S1021 features the patented DensiFlex™ system, which automates control of cooking and expansion to ensure product uniformity. Its hygienic, stainless-steel design simplifies cleaning and minimizes the risk of cross-contamination — two key concerns for producers of pet food and aqua feed.

Key benefits include:

  • Food safety: Stainless steel hygienic design for faster cleaning and compliance with safety standards
  • Product consistency: Patented DensiFlex™ system for precise density control, faster startup and shutdown
  • Flexibility: Capable of processing a wide variety of feed formulations with ease
  • Reduced downtime: Curved knife housing with automatic adjustment to minimize residue buildup
  • Lower operating costs: Energy-efficient drive system to reduce consumption
  • Reliability: Optimized automation and maintenance features to extend machine lifetime and reduce stoppages

On display at VICTAM LATAM

Alongside the ExMax S1021, ANDRITZ is showcasing its automation and digitalization solutions, and full-service support portfolio. These offerings help producers maximize equipment performance throughout their lifecycle.

Visitors can explore these technologies and speak with ANDRITZ experts at Booth #4000 at VICTAM LATAM, which takes place from September 16-18, 2025, at the Expo Center Norte in São Paulo.
