Paper Corea starts up ANDRITZ shoe press with record line load for packaging paper in South Korea

Paper Corea Inc. has successfully started up a PrimePress X shoe press supplied by international technology group ANDRITZ at its paper mill in Gunsan, South Korea.

This marks a significant milestone, as the press features the highest line load ever installed for paper production in South Korea - an achievement that enables stronger, more durable paper and boosts production efficiency through optimized dewatering and faster machine speeds.

ANDRITZ’s scope of supply comprised a PrimePress X shoe press designed for high-efficiency dewatering, an integrated VIB SteamTech steam box, and press section fabrics.

Key benefits and results: 

  • increased dryness over 5%, significantly lowering steam consumption

  • proven energy savings up to 20%, supporting sustainability goals

  • over 30% improvement in the 2-sigma CD moisture profile

  • high-quality paper from the very first run

  • compact design, ensuring long-term operational reliability

Thanks to the close collaboration between the Paper Corea and ANDRITZ teams, installation and commissioning were completed on schedule, with seamless integration into the existing paper machine.
