ANDRITZ X-Pro crosslapper: A magnet for customer innovation

The ANDRITZ technical center in Elbeuf, France, has recently become a focal point for nonwovens producers from around the world.

At the heart of this growing interest is the latest innovation in high-speed crosslapping: the ANDRITZ X‑Pro™ crosslapper, a technology that is redefining standards in productivity, quality, and operational stability.

A new benchmark in crosslapping attracts global industry attention

The new ANDRITZ X‑Pro™ crosslapper is drawing strong attention from the nonwovens industry, especially from producers active in needlepunch technology. Installed at the ANDRITZ technical center in Elbeuf, France, the latest generation crosslapper has recently been at the center of several customer visits and trial activities, underlining the growing market interest in high-speed, high-precision web forming solutions. The Elbeuf site is one of ANDRITZ’s key competence centers for drylaid nonwovens and needlepunch technologies, offering industrial-scale trials, product development, and process validation.

International customers explore performance potential in live trials

Recent visits from KingSafe, Yinshan, NBond, and HFR highlighted the strong momentum around this new development. During these visits, customers had the opportunity to see the X‑Pro™ crosslapper in operation, exchange with ANDRITZ experts, and evaluate its potential for future needlepunch applications. In the case of KingSafe China, ANDRITZ reported that trials were run on the latest X‑Pro™ crosslapper at 175 m/min entry speed, creating a valuable platform for technical discussions and collaboration around high-speed nonwovens production.

Next-level speed and precision redefine web forming standards

The X‑Pro™ crosslapper represents a major step forward in crosslapping performance for both needlepunch and spunlace lines. Designed to combine very high speed with excellent web uniformity, it introduces a new benchmark in batt forming by reducing internal web distortion and improving overlap precision. According to ANDRITZ, the new machine offers mechanical capability up to 250 m/min, depending on the line configuration, while also being fully compatible with the ProWin™ web weight regulation system for optimized profile correction and enhanced product homogeneity.

Optimized web control delivers superior needlepunch quality

For needlepunch producers, these performance gains are particularly relevant. Web formation and batt layering are critical factors in determining final product quality, throughput, and process stability. With its advanced X‑Path web transfer concept, the X‑Pro™ crosslapper keeps better control of the web from card exit to delivery, helping to maintain fiber orientation, improve evenness, and support straight edges and precise layering, all key contributors to superior end-product performance.

Elbeuf technical center enables real-scale validation and innovation

The Elbeuf technical center offers the ideal environment to demonstrate these benefits under realistic industrial conditions. The needlepunch pilot line at the site is designed on an industrial scale and integrates several of the latest ANDRITZ developments, including advanced carding, web optimization, needling, winding, and now the new X‑Pro™ crosslapper. This enables customers to validate machine performance, test product concepts, and explore process windows with direct support from ANDRITZ specialists.

Strong value proposition for demanding technical nonwovens applications

The recent customer visits confirm that the X‑Pro™ crosslapper is resonating strongly with companies seeking higher productivity without compromising fabric quality. For manufacturers in markets such as automotive, filtration, flooring, geotextiles, and other technical nonwovens, the ability to combine higher line speed with excellent web quality is a highly attractive proposition. ANDRITZ positions the X‑Pro™ as a solution that can help producers push performance further while also improving operational efficiency and consistency.

X‑Pro™ crosslapper establishes itself as a focal point for the industry

With the X‑Pro™ crosslapper now installed and available for trials in Elbeuf, ANDRITZ is offering customers a hands-on opportunity to experience the next generation of crosslapping technology. The visits from KingSafe, Yinshan, NBond, and HFR are a clear sign that this innovation is already becoming a focal point for the global nonwovens community, and especially for those looking to unlock new potential in needlepunch production.
