Benefits for Pulp Producers
- Improved quality
- Higher availability
- Enhanced customer experience
Smart Fiberline Quality Tracking enables pulp and paper producers to estimate and control fiber quality in real time, eliminating laboratory delays and improving operational efficiency.
Traditionally, fiber bonding and strength measurements are performed in laboratories, causing delays, additional costs, and limited information on quality stability. Smart Fiberline Quality Tracking provides immediate, real-time estimation of key pulp properties through a calculation model. The solution enables producers to optimize quality and efficiency throughout the process.
The inability to measure bonding and fiber strength in real time leads to delays and inefficiency, as traditional laboratory measurements are slow and often occur after the pulp has been used. A small sample from the produced pulp for quality analysis does not indicate quality stability.
Smart Fiberline Quality Tracking delivers instant, continuous data on bonding and fiber strength properties. The impact of process variables is modelled as Fiber Online Index (FOX). Quality index follows the pulp throughout the process until dried pulp bales. The software provides prediction of pulp quality and operators are able to affect it by optimizing the process variables. Paper, tissue and board producers may also utilize pulp’s quality index information as precondition to processing. The technology received a quality award in Finland in 2014.
