The project in closing after receiving the second PAC

In August 2018, unit #2 of the Xekaman Xanxay hydropower project was put into commercial operation. Both units are commissioned and running satisfactorily.

In 2015, ANDRITZ received the contract from the Song Da Cooperation Vietnam for the supply of the complete electro-mechanical equipment and services including two Bulb turbines, horizontal generators, governors, mechanical auxiliaries, electric power systems and automation, protection and control systems for the Xekaman Xanxay hydropower station, located on the Xekaman River, Attapeu Province, People’s Democratic Republic of Lao.

The contractual completion date was December 2017, but the customer decided to start civil and installation work of unit #2 after unit #1 was completely finished and successfully put into operation. This was a tough decision for ANDRITZ concerning resources and costs, but with expert project management and in close cooperation with the customer, the project could be executed nonetheless in good time and to the satisfaction of the customer.

The Xekaman Xanxay project is an essential part of the 300 MW hydropower station Xekaman 1, acting as downstream regulator to avoid flooding and to stabilize the water level. It will have an installed capacity of 32 MW and an average annual output of about 131.2 GWh of electrical energy.
