ANDRITZ to convert SC paper machine to produce lightweight containerboard for Heinzel Group in Laakirchen, Austria

2016/09/12

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from Heinzel Group to rebuild the PM10 at its Laakirchen paper mill in Austria. As from the third quarter 2017, PM 10, which is currently producing SC paper, will be producing waste paper-based lightweight containerboard. After full conversion, PM 10 will be among the most efficient paper machines in the lightweight containerboard sector with a working width of 7,500 mm and a design speed of 1,600m/m.

ANDRITZ will deliver a new OCC line and PM approach system. The recycled fiber line includes a FibreSolve FSR pulper with detrashing system. With a volume of 130 m³, it is the biggest low-consistency pulper ever installed by ANDRITZ in Europe.

The scope of supply also includes a new PrimeFlow TW two-layer headbox with PrimeProfiler F consistency profiling system and a PrimeForm TW gap former.

In the drying section, optimum runability will be achieved by using the new PrimeRun Evo web stabilization system with a high-vacuum zone at the paper release point. PrimeDry Steel cylinders will be used to get maximum drying capacity and paper width on the existing machine frame. The new PrimeCoat Film film press applies surface starch to both sides of the paper web simultaneously. In addition, a PrimeAir Glide air turn and a PrimeFeeder ropeless tail threading system will be supplied. The order further includes the entire basic engineering as well as the extensive automation package Prime Control PCS7.

This order once again confirms the strong business relationship between ANDRITZ and Heinzel Group. During the past years, ANDRITZ successfully delivered Europe’s largest PrimeLine MG paper machine with the world’s largest PrimeDry Steel Yankee as well as a new black liquor recovery boiler plant to Zellstoff Pöls AG, member of Heinzel Group.

International Heinzel Group – with its affiliates Laakirchen Papier AG, Zellstoff Pöls AG, both Austria , Raubling Papier GmbH, Germany, and AS Estonian Cell, Estonia – ranks among the largest producers of market pulp, corrugated containerboard and magazine paper in Central and Eastern Europe.
