The Metris SAG Mill ACE is an APC designed to manage the primary control functions of the SAG mill and the reclaim feed rate system. Its objective is to maintain a stable mill filing. By doing so, it can help achieve constant grind performance and maximum production rate.

The main goal of the controller is to increase feed throughput while reducing specific energy consumption. It stabilizes the SAG Mill filling according to the setpoint entered by the operator. The mill’s filling can be inferred using bearing pressure or weight. The system manipulates the speed of each feeder based on the operator shares, stockpile level, and ore granulometry.

It minimizes filling disturbances caused by changes in the ore and mill speed changes. It also prevents premature wear of the mill liners by speed control based on acoustic monitoring. The system ensures that the operating limits such as torque, power, percentage of solids, or any downstream limits are maintained.
