Just exactly how does Metris DigiSim work?
Metris DigiSim is an offline simulation software program, developed by ANDRITZ for transfer presses and press lines. It’s used as a way to visually verify the flow of parts, reduce the risk of breakdowns, optimize process efficiency, and decrease unit costs. The software simulates the movements of the slide and transfer system, as well as all other movement sequences relevant to output and freedom of movement. This means that collisions between all elements can be detected and eliminated in a straight forward manner.
Use Metris DigiSim to freely program forming systems offline, using set point parameters on a fully digitalized basis (press and die). The software’s field of application spans all aspects of production planning, from sequence plans, die and tooling design, and press and automation control for quality optimization. Metris DigiSim is compatible with existing PLS systems.
SUCCESS COMES PRE-PROGRAMMED
With Metris DigiSim, you can safely and efficiently simulate complex dies/tooling and forming processes. You have the ability to conduct test runs anytime, anywhere, to improve the quality and efficiency of your production operations.
Here’s how it works: You’ll use Metris DigiSim in your die design or production preparation phases. From your workstation computer, you’ll run simulations that calculate the complex inter-relationships between the job order, press, die, tooling, and material. If you’re satisfied with the results, you can send the simulation parameters to production as set point values.
These values will then be loaded into the press and checked before being used in actual production. Metris DigiSim helps customers implement a 3-stage optimization of output, service life, and energy consumption. Time-consuming real-life tests are thus completely eliminated.

PRODUCTIVITY FROM THE FIRST STROKE THANKS TO DIGITAL SIMULATION
DigiSim® Unlimited is software for calculating, optimizing, and simulating the slide and transfer movements of a transfer press.
With the help of the software, tool-specific optimized motion profiles for freely programmable servo axes of a 3-axis transfer can be generated quickly and easily.
Features:
- Press-specific slide curve: The slide curve can either be read in or generated using a press-specific curve generator for Schuler servo presses.
- Universal application: DigiSim® Unlimited can also be used for systems outside the Schuler Group.
- Simulation software: The implemented simulation software is used to verify the part flow through the system and to optimize clearances and stroke rates.
- Motion sequences: The simultaneous motion sequences of 3-axis transfer presses can be simulated.
- Additional movements: Movements of the component and tooling can also be simulated.

The application area extends across the entire production planning, from the process plan to die design, press and automation control, and quality optimization.
DigiSim is compatible with existing PLS systems. For smooth communication between die design department and production, the simulation files can be sent together with the "ViewOnly" software, which not only displays the clearance curves but also allows measurements. This eliminates the need for elaborate simulation reports, as previously required.
