ANDRITZ´s sustainability program

ANDRITZ’s current sustainability program We Care runs from 2021 to the end of 2025. Having already achieved – and partly surpassed – most of our ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) targets for 2025, we have now set our new targets for 2030.

With the new program and targets we keep the focus on environmental, social and governance topics. They are designed to align the company with global climate goals, enhance employee well-being, and ensure responsible governance. They focus on:

Enabling the green transition

We provide innovative, resource-efficient solutions for our customers and reduce the environmental footprint of our own operations.

Supporting people to grow

We are committed to creating a safe and fair work environment that promotes equal opportunities and personal development.

Governing with integrity

We uphold high ethical standards and responsible business practices throughout our operations and value chain.

Find out more about the targets here.

Our ESG program We Care, which runs to the end of 2025, pursues a multi-dimensional, comprehensive and practice-oriented sustainability approach. It focuses on three fundamental topics – innovation and digitalization, stakeholder management and corporate compliance. We continuously strive to improve our performance with regard to these topics and to keep up with developments and requirements to ensure best practice and the highest standards.

Our focus areas build on these defined fundamental topics. They have been chosen with regard to the expected maximum positive impact on society and with regard to the areas where we are able to make the greatest contribution to a sustainable future. We set ambitious goals for all our focus areas. Find out more about them here.

Our ESG vision

We are amongst the best in class regarding sustainability in the markets we serve, and we create maximum value added for all our stakeholders. As a leader in sustainability, we focus on responsible corporate governance and on ensuring a safe and viable future for society, our employees and all other stakeholders as well as on creating sustainable and durable products that contribute towards conserving natural resources and protecting the environment and climate.

The environmental part of our program is threefold: we’re striving to protect the climate by reducing our own carbon footprint. At the same time, we are continuously minimizing the environmental impact of our facilities regarding water consumption and waste production. And we focus on developing products and solutions that help our customers to become more sustainable. Read more.

When it comes to the social focus area, we are convinced that people will deliver their best performance, if they feel well taken care of and respected. So we are making a real effort to provide a safe, secure and appropriate working environment. But for us it takes much more to be an attractive employer: we must offer equal opportunities, fair pay, exciting international career paths and further development options – regardless of origin and gender.

Finally, we are a loyal business partner, one that is committed to the best corporate governance and fair and ethical business practices. Needless to say, we respect internationally recognized human rights and principles of equal opportunities for everyone – and we also expect this from our suppliers. In terms of sustaining maximum value for all stakeholders we have implemented a group-wide control system to identify risks at an early stage and initiate countermeasures promptly.

Sustainability governance

At ANDRITZ, effective governance is grounded in clearly defined roles and responsibilities across all levels of leadership. The Executive Board is responsible for steering the company’s global operations and executing its strategic direction. The Supervisory Board provides independent oversight and strategic guidance, ensuring transparency, accountability, and long-term value creation.

The Executive Board, supported by the Supervisory Board, is the highest body responsible for approving the guiding policies for sustainability and outlining sustainability principles that inform the company’s strategy.

On the operational level, sustainability is managed by the Chief Executive Officer, the other members of the Executive Board, the Group Sustainability function, the Group Corporate Compliance function, and other senior leaders across the different global functions and business areas.
