Sustainable approach

Dry Molded Fiber represents an innovative approach to manufacturing fiber-based products. This technique drastically reduces water and energy consumption compared to conventional fiber-forming methods. By utilizing a dry process, production speeds are up to ten times faster with up to 80% lower CO2 emissions.

These efficiencies make fiber-based alternatives more economically viable compared to plastic packaging, driving their adoption in the industry.

ANDRITZ focuses on producing coffee lids and lids for cold drinks using Dry Molded Fiber technology, while also following the needs of the medical and packaging sectors.

Airlaid forming

The ANDRITZ neXline DMF eXcelle pro line with an airlaid forming unit includes proven and unique drum forming technology.

This state of the art process is based on rotating, perforated drums that are fed with a fiber mixture. The rotation of the drums in combination with the internal rotating needle rolls creates a fluidized stream of fibers inside the drums. The fiber or fiber mixture is extracted from the drums by a vacuum underneath the forming drums and placed on a wire to produce a uniform web.

Mill to web forming

ANDRITZ also offers the alternative neXline DMF aXcess and eXcelle lines with a mill to web unit instead of an airlaid forming unit. This mill to web forming is a cost-optimized, all-in-one solution.

The neXline DMF aXcess is designed for smaller production volumes and it is more compact, which makes it space-efficient. On the other hand, the eXcelle alternative is built for higher production volumes, which is why it requires more space. The aXcess line has lower initial investment costs, while eXcelle offers higher flexibility with its modular technology.
