Health and well-being

Health and well-being is an integral part of our Sustainability Program, ANDRITZ prioritizes the health and well-being of employees by ensuring physical safety and supporting mental well-being. Our approach includes robust safety standards, preventive measures, and programs that foster a healthy and resilient workforce.

Our commitment and performance

We aim to create a safe, healthy, and supportive workplace that prioritizes physical and mental well-being.

Physical safety at work

A key aspect of wellbeing is ensuring physical safety at work. We are committed protecting everyone we impact. In every action, we care for each other, making sure everyone gets home unharmed. This defines how we run a responsible business — in our operations, partnerships, and with our people. Safety is our commitment, not a compromise. By embedding the "Committed to no harm" concept into every site, workshop, and delivery, we ensure that safety is not an afterthought but a foundation for success.

Building strong safety culture

A strong safety culture is built on trust, leadership, and shared responsibility. We encourage everyone to speak up when they see a risk and empower leaders to create an environment where concerns are heard and acted upon. Through global programs such as Leadership in Health & Safety (LiHS), Behavior-Based Safety (B-BS), and the Safety Excellence Awards, we reinforce safe actions, recognize positive behaviour, and ensure that safety is visible in everyday decisions. This culture extends across all regions and project sites, supported by consistent standards and practical tools that keep people protected.

Management system and governance

We uphold strong management and governance practices to ensure health and safety across all our operations. In addition to meeting all legal requirements, the ANDRITZ Health, Safety and Environmental Management Policy establishes the minimum standard for every location worldwide.

Health and safety governance is an integral part of our compliance management system. We conduct systematic risk assessments, internal and external audits, incident investigations, and follow defined escalation processes. These practices reinforce accountability, foster continuous improvement, and support learning across all sites.

We also track safety performance through clear indicators and follow up on results to guide actions and improvements. Our occupational health and safety management system is certified according to ISO 45001, ensuring a consistent and robust global standard.

Growing focus on employees’ mental wellbeing

Mental wellbeing is a key component of a healthy and productive workplace. At ANDRITZ, we recognize that it is closely linked to job satisfaction, engagement, and overall performance. By addressing mental health proactively, we aim to create an environment where employees feel supported, motivated, and able to collaborate effectively and innovate.

We integrate mental health into our global Health & Safety processes and continue to advance a more systematic, groupwide approach. Our initiatives include the Choose Life Program, launched in 2026, which strengthens the link between mental and physical health, attention, and safe behavior. We also offer a broad range of mental health and resilience trainings to help employees manage stress, build coping skills, and support long‑term wellbeing.

To ensure support is accessible whenever it’s needed, our Employee Counseling Program provides confidential one‑on‑one guidance from licensed professionals, and we offer 24/7 mental health assistance for international travelers.

Each year, ANDRITZ also marks World Mental Health Day with engagement activities and feedback campaigns that encourage open dialogue and continuous improvement.
