Health and safety

At ANDRITZ, human wellbeing is a core priority, as reflected in our Code of Conduct. This commitment includes upholding human rights across all business activities and ensuring healthy, fair working conditions in accordance with applicable laws and international standards.

To support this, we regularly conduct employee engagement surveys to assess overall satisfaction and motivation levels within our workforce. These surveys provide valuable insights into areas that require attention. Action plans for improvement are closely monitored to ensure that leaders take meaningful steps together with their teams. Additionally, we acknowledge the importance of mental wellbeing by participating in the World Mental Day to encourage open dialogue and action on mental health.

A key aspect of wellbeing is ensuring physical safety at work. Occupational health and safety have top priority at ANDRITZ. The goal is to create a safe, healthy and pleasant working environment for all our employees and for all other stakeholders. We pursue a zero-accidents target and a pro-active safety culture in order to prevent accidents.

Safety at ANDRITZ begins by building up a local network of experts on occupational health and safety, who define and promote a strong culture of safety. Our safety culture is based on establishing common safety values and principles, sharing best practices and learning from past incidents to raise awareness. We join efforts to guarantee that all employees act as safety leaders, taking care of themselves and all other people present at the workplace.

Our occupational health and safety management system is certified according to ISO 45001. In addition to the legal requirements, the ANDRITZ health, safety and environmental management policy is the minimum standard for all our locations.

Our aim is to prevent unsafe actions from the outset and make workplaces and processes as safe as possible.  Every accident that happens is one too many and our ultimate goal is always to operate completely accident-free.

Risk analyses of all working areas and safety trainings are conducted regularly. Safety activities are integrated continuously into the daily work routine. ANDRITZ produces parts weighing several tons and installs them in many different regions of the world. In addition to static measures such as cleanliness or accessibility, we pay high attention to the risks associated to dynamic processes, such as material handling and moving parts, both in our manufacturing locations and on construction sites.

At ANDRITZ, we are advancing workplace safety through two key initiatives: the Behavior-Based Safety (B-BS) program and Leadership in Health and Safety (LiHS) training. These efforts focus on reducing unsafe behaviors by promoting awareness, coaching, and leadership involvement. By embedding safety into everyday actions and empowering leaders at all levels, we are building a strong, proactive safety culture. These initiatives support our We Care sustainability goal through which we aim to improve the Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate by 30% every year compared to the previous year. The ultimate goal for ANDRITZ is zero accidents at work.
